| About Me and F.A.Q.

This is my culinary story...

I've been cooking by grandmother's side since I was very young, but started blogging and photographing on January 2011. This blog is my personal Recipe Roll.

My name is Yadsia G. Iglesias. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Currently living in Florida (US) as of January 2012.

My official training has nothing to do with food. I have a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).

I grew up eating Afro-Caribbean foodRice and Beans, Mofongo and Tembleque are dishes that my Grandma taught me how to cook. But can't master quite yet.
Originally, this blog was meant to be an online personal cook book. A place to store all of my recipes, finds and crafts in one place. But I fell in love with the world of blogging, can’t stop now.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What photography gear do you use?

*Edited: As of Nov/9/2011, I'm using a Canon T2i camera with a Canon 50mm 2.5 Macro Lens

I shoot with natural light, but sometimes use a Lowel Ego Light when it's cloudy (to compensate the lack of available light). I always use a light reflector and diffuser. All editing is done on Lightroom 3, using an iMac.

From Jan/2011 until Nov/2011: A simple Point & Shoot camera, nothing fancy.

2. Where do you get your props?

I built all of my backgrounds. Click on this link to see a tutorial on how to make a Wood Table Top for food photography.

All the props come from different stores. Great places to buy some vintage and unusual props are Ebay, Amazon and Etsy. Fabric stores are great places to buy inexpensive fabric to use as napkins.

3. Can I advertise on you Blog? Do you do product reviews and giveaways?

I'm part of the BlogHer Food Network of Publishers. Any outside advertising has to comply with their guidelines. I'm very selective of everything I post on my blog. I do welcome ad space requests as well as other promotion opportunities, but they have to be related to food and crafts. Email me for more information.
