Caramel Sauce & BlogHer Feature




Last week my recipe for Gluten-Free Pea Pesto was featured on BlogHer. Below is a screenshot of the front page. I was so happy to see it there!

I've always liked Caramel Sauce on top of ice cream. But the other day, finally sat down to read the ingredient list on a commercially made sauce. There are over 20 ingredients listed for a simple Caramel Sauce.

I'm not saying that making it yourself is going to be healthier, there is a lot of fat and sugar in it after all. But it might be slightly better for you without all the extra chemicals. 

This sauce is so good, I can eat by the spoon. It's better served warm with tart apple slices.




  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Half and Half (or Heavy Cream)
  •  
-In a small sauce pan, combine the butter and sugar over medium heat. 

-When the butter has melted completely, add the half and half. Mix well. 

-Cook for 5 minutes, whisking the mixture when needed, until it turns into a smooth sauce.

Keep in the fridge.
